Upon a Gardener in the Month of May

So, it’s April not May and there was snow on the ground this morning, but I can dream, can’t I:

Upon a Gardener in the Month of May

Kneeling and crouching, back breaking-

Creak, crack, “umph”

Elbow on knee- hand on knee,

-Lift, unbend, straighten.

Bones, tendons, joints and ribs,

Now unwound- were formed in darkness

And Brought to light,

Bones and flesh act as stems and leaves-

Broken to grow,

Towards light

A seedling bends and bursts.
